Dave Sargent spent 13 years in the Royal Navy. Retiring as a Lieutenant Commander, he participated in operations at sea and ashore and lead teams supporting Naval and Military Operations all over the world.
Such an apprenticeship is not typical for a Painter and Decorator, but the Navy instills honesty, integrity and hard work in those who have served and it these characteristics which underpins those of the Gentleman Decorator. Dave is used to working under pressure to high and exacting standards; an ex-serviceman he knows a thing or two about order, cleanliness and the ability to make things shiny (or matt, depending on the preferences of the client of course).
Before the Navy, Dave studied Design and as the Son of an artist he grew up in a creative home, always surrounded by, and often covered in paint! These formative years set the foundations for the future for when he retrained as a Decorator and thus Dave is always striving to widen his repertoire.
So, just What exactly is the Gentleman Decorator\’s approach? Simply put it is summarised by professional standards. The Gentleman Decorator never uses the term \‘it will do\’. It will do will not do. Only the highest standards of quality will allied to The highest levels of attention to detail.
